This is a post to state what I have learned so far…
So far I have accomplished a lot. I have learned how to do CMS writing which is insanely valuable to me because I am a history major and thats the style that historians use. I am glad to be one step ahead of my sophomore peers because we haven’t written any papers yet in history classes. I learned how to do a correct annotated bibliography and a notes page for my CMS format. Basically they’re very similar but the notes page is briefer and Chicago’s method of citations.
Pertaining to the class I have learned what research is!! Well research to me used to be such a brief and compact thing, but now Marlen has made me realize that it’s not! It’s a lot bigger and pertains to a lot of various subjects instead of just scholarly works! I have also learned that doing online homework isn’t as bad as I thought it would be. This blogging stuff isn’t too bad. I like that it saves paper and is easier than having a lot of loose things piling up. It’s all in one place and easy to access. It’s just a little bit annoying that in the future I won’t be able to have it set in stone (or in this case paper) to look back on. But I can print it… but that’s a waste.
I HATE THAT THE SYLLABUS IS ONLINE!! I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT!! It’s annoying that I have to sign onto my computer and go to a website and try to remember what week it is instead of looking at a specific date! It’s completely irritating and annoying and I’d rather be more organized and pull it out of my english 202 folder and see on a specific date (aka instead of “week 10″ put like “march 17″). But you can print it out right? OF COURSE! but it changes so frequently, it just became a waste of paper and ink. Money down the trash. But I guess I can understand that we’re a picky bunch of kids that need extensions and such and I’m assuming that this is Marlen’s first 202 class and I guess we’re little lab monkey’s.
My goals of this class are simple… 1) I want to get an A (duh). 2) I want to find out real information that is valuable to me and can possibly make an impact on student’s daily lives! 3) I want to challenge myself! I like to learn new things and be proactive in my studies so with the books we read and the research that we do… I want to educate myself and make myself more knowledgeable!
